SCARS relies solely on support from the community as they do not receive any type of government funding. They have up to 200 animals in care at any one time. Veterinarian costs sometimes exceed $80-$90,000. In their 20 years of operation they have placed over 15,000 animals in loving homes and look forward to another 20 years and more of rescue work thanks to the generosity of their supporters.
